Karl Randy Pierce, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist who treats both adults and children at Eye Physicians of Austin, located in Austin, Texas. Dr. Pierce provides a wide range of services, including: LASIK, dry eye treatment, urgent care, cornea surgery, and treatment for glaucoma and cataracts. He specializes in the use of therapeutic lasers and other advanced techniques. Dr. Pierce offers his services patients from the Austin Independent School District Needy Student program and Mental Health Mental Retardation program, and also provides exams through the National Eye Care Project.

A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Pierce received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed both his internship in internal medicine and his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He’s a member of many medical organizations including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Consumer's Research Council of America has previously named Dr. Pierce one of America's Top Ophthalmologists. He continues to pursue his education to be able to provide his patients with the most advanced forms of eye care possible.

Mark A. Plunkett, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist who brings over 21 years of experience to treating patients of all ages at Eye Physicians of Austin, in Austin, Texas. He provides extensive treatments and surgeries, including: cataract surgery, cornea transplants, LASIK, dry eye treatment, urgent care, and glaucoma treatment.

Dr. Plunkett grew up in Spring, Texas and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and from there completed an internship at Baylor University Medical Center. In addition, he served as an ophthalmological resident at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, an affiliate of the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition, Dr. Plunkett completed a fellowship program in cornea and refractive surgery at Duke University. He continually researches new procedures and techniques that he can include in his practice.

Peter T. Wollan, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist at Eye Physicians of Austin, located in Austin, Texas. In addition to glaucoma treatment, Dr. Wollan performs cataract surgery and treats a number of common eye conditions, such as dry eye.

A native of Austin, Texas, Dr. Wollan graduated summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University with a double major in biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. At UT Houston, Dr. Wollan went on to complete a residency in general ophthalmology and a fellowship in glaucoma care. He also completed an internship in internal medicine and general surgery at the UT Houston. Dr. Wollan is a member of a number of medical organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Texas Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Wollan attended high school in Austin where he met his wife to be, Megan. While in medical school he and Megan married. She is a practicing anesthesiologist here in Austin. They have been married for over 20 years and are raising three children near the same school where they met.

Dr. Wollan is an art enthusiast and considered majoring in art before deciding to pursue a medical degree. Dr. Wollan also enjoys participating in some volunteer screenings and other outreach programs.

Dr. Eric Dai is a board certified ophthalmologist and provides medical and surgical treatment of the eye. He has extensive experience performing cataract and corneal transplantation surgery.  

Dr. Dai is a native Texan and a graduate of Rice University. After medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine, he completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch during which he served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Dai then received additional specialized training through a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  He has been recognized as a Texas Super Doctor as published by Texas Monthly since 2012.

When not at work caring for his patients, Dr. Dai enjoys spending time with his family and preparing Asian cuisine.

Haumith R. Khan-Farooqi, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, with an expertise in cornea and refractive surgery, practicing at Eye Physicians of Austin, in Austin, Texas. In addition to these surgeries, Dr. Khan-Farooqi provides a wide-range of treatments and surgical procedures including glaucoma treatment, and LASIK.

Dr. Khan-Farooqi grew up in Stockton, California and attended college at UCLA, where he double majored in neuroscience and psychobiology. After graduating, he spent two years as a research assistant for the Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Lab at UCLA, where he co-authored several papers on immunotherapy.

Dr. Khan-Farooqi went on to earn his medical degree and complete an internship at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He graduated medical school with distinction in research for his work on adjuvants for use in anti-tumor immunotherapy. He completed his residency at Tulane University, earning the departmental award for research on a novel source of limbal stem cells two consecutive years.

Dr. Khan-Farooqi continued his medical training with a one-year fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. There he trained under Dr. Claes Dohlman, considered the father of modern corneal science and the inventor of the Boston Keratoprosthesis.

In his free time, he enjoys basketball, football, racquetball, films and he is a die-hard UCLA basketball/football fan.

Peter Ryg, M.D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon with fellowship training in Corneal and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Ryg received his undergraduate degree from Brown University. He earned his medical degree with honors from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

After medical school, Dr. Ryg completed his residency at Yale University. He then went on to complete the prestigious Proctor Foundation Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at University of California San Francisco. Dr. Ryg also spent a year performing research at the renowned Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Ryg specializes in advanced corneal transplant techniques, complex cataract surgery, LASIK, and ocular surface tumors. He has co-authored multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and several oncology journals.

In addition to being well-known as an exceptionally skilled surgeon, Dr. Ryg takes pride in bringing a personal level to the care of his patients, providing high quality of care with a focus on communication and patient education. He works directly with you to ensure you are well educated on the details of your vision care needs.

When not treating patients, Dr. Ryg enjoys spending time with his young children and partner, Alana, who was born and raised in Austin. As a native Minnesotan, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, fishing, and nature photography.

Dr. Li is a fellowship trained glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist. Dr. Li is glad to be returning to Texas where he received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Li’s research on various vision conditions and eye diseases has been published over 15 times in ophthalmology and optometry publications. He has presented his research findings nationally and internationally.  Dr. Li enjoys giving back and has participated in many service projects including performing cataract surgery in rural Peru, surgical care for the Navajo Reservation Outreach, and comprehensive ophthalmic care to the uninsured population in Columbus, Ohio. He is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Li’s hobbies include hiking, camping and enjoying Texas BBQ.
